4 Tips to Run an Effective Legal Recruitment Process

April 16, 2019- admin

Recruitment stays at the forefront for most of the leading law firms in the country. The increased demand and recruiting has left the market short of candidates. Due to the lack of a seamless recruitment process, it is seen that law firms further amplify problems and miss out on the top talents in the domain. The inability to get the right recruit further leads to existing workers getting over-worked and hence frustrated.

With apt legal recruitment, the existing workers in the firm stay happy. Here are some of the tips for the same-

Know when to recruit- The timescale

It is important to first decide on a fixed timescale and then work in it to get results. With a busy schedule, people may just overlook the recruitment process and hence having a fixed timescale will ensure that the process starts rolling. Short listing CVs and getting done with the first and second round of the interview will take time. If you have a lawyer quitting the job, then do not hurry the entire process to search for a replacement as it is expected that they will serve a 3 month notice period. 3 months is time enough for you to get the right replacement.

Like a CV? Be lightning fast!

As soon as you meet an outstanding prospect, delay no further and set up an interview. The market is rife with competition and the same candidate can be taken up by other firms if you delay. If you have any concerns, stock them up for the interview. There are many instances when the top law firms have even scheduled interviews on Saturdays just because they wanted the candidate.

Feedback- Reveal what you evaluate

Respect the fact that a candidate has travelled a distance to attend the interview. Even if you are rejecting the candidate, letting them know about it along with sufficient reasons will surely be beneficial and enhance your reputation as a recruiter.

Make an offer not an unpleasant surprise

After you select the candidate, make an offer that doesn’t disappoint. If you have previously set out salary expectations and every other clause then stepping back and presenting a different offer can be the most unpleasant surprise for the candidate. It will hamper your reputation a recruiter.
